Key
Point:
Like the magical
Atlantis, childhood is a lost world ( a remnant of
Eden). What happens to our hearts in childhood sets
the course for our life.
Overview:
Mysterious Ted Brautigan acts like a "fairy
god-mother" to 11-year-old Bobby Garfield.
Knowing that Bobby lives with his selfish, negative mother,
Ted enters Bobby's life at a crucial moment....the last
summer of his childhood. Through circumstances that he
orchestrates, Ted gives Bobby a true picture of his dead
father, releases him from his fear, and opens his eyes to
let the future in. The fatherless, fearful boy emerges as a
man who can see the world through different lenses. He
is then able to extend the grace he has received to another
(Molly).
Spiritual
Lessons:
 |
Ted
Brautigan is like a guardian angel (Hebrews 1:14).

 |
Bobby
is symbolic of humanity. Cut off from the
Father, we receive negative information about Him and
His love for us. Then the grace of God reveals
the truth of His love to our hearts. It brings about
inner transformation enabling us to become vessels of
His love and grace to the truly "lost
world". |

Ephesians
